The London International Orchestra of Academia (LIOA) has been formed from students studying at the finest conservatoires in London to hold a yearly series of concerts. Firmly grounded in central London's concert scene we intend to take the programme into lesser-known venues in South London, giving a broader audience the opportunity to hear this first class orchestra. Dominic Grier and Robert Tuohy, both from the Royal Academy of Music, hold the position of Director of Music/Conductor jointly. They have worked on several projects together in the past and bring this orchestra their experience, enthusiasm and commitment. I'm certain we will all benefit from their extensive collaborative talents and skills. Our launch concert was on Saturday 15 July 2006 in the beautiful church of St John the Evangelist, London SE19. Details are on our Previous Events page. Click on the links below to listen to excerpts from our debut concert archive recording. Brahms Academic Festival Overture 3 min 54 sec (3.6 MB) Brahms Symphony No 2 2 min 42 sec (2.5 MB) For an online application form, please click here. Whether as a prospective member of the orchestra or as a member of our audience I am certain that we will all enjoy this brilliant new venture. Welcome to the LIOA. Stephen Mansfield
We welcome feedback from audience and orchestra members. Please send any comments to feedback@lioa.org.uk. |
